As it would be my first theme for this site, hence I change my mind and renaming plugedit to wpthemestudio for branding sake.

This is my to do list to keep myself remind about what I have to do.

The current plugedit version 0.0 only contains these files.

  • style.css
  • index.php
  • header.php
  • footer.php
  • sidebar.php
  • functions.php
  • single.php
  • comments.php
  • images folder which contains all images and icons used.
  • empty dll folder.

I am planning, in wpthemestudio version 0.1 will have these files.

  • page.php Done
  • 404.php Done
  • search.php Done
  • archive.php Done
  • archives.php Done
  • sitemap.php <== Actually same as archives.php, different in layout only. Done
  • Store the codes into a hook and put it in dynamic library(dll). Done
  • Add dynamic sidebar, I will call this dynamic sidebar as zones in this theme as there will be a lot of dynamic sidebar.  Top, Bottom, footer, above post, below post, you name it, I’m sure I’ll put into that area.  Limitation will be no php code insert.  This is for users good so they won’t break the theme. Done
  • home.php <== Not yet decided what will be the standard homepage/frontpage default layout.  I guess I need to make a survey.  Help me out with this will you?  Because there’s no point making something that users don’t like or even don’t use. Done
  • attachment.php Canceled – I don’t think it is necessary.
  • Admin interface for some back-end enhancement.
  • print.css(Addes 15th February 2009) Done
  • breadcrumb(Addes 15th February 2009) Done
  • feedsredirection(Addes 15th February 2009)
  • first-letter post(Addes 15th February 2009) Delayed
  • exclude page in nav menu(Addes 15th February 2009)

I’m using this template hierarchy as my reference.

Template Hierarchy

Beside template pages, these is the module that will come in basic wpthemestudio theme.
I want to make an admin interface to enable or disable these feature, sure no problems… But something went into my mind.  Why we need to host something that we don’t use!
Or I’m wrong?

So I came with this idea.
Install only what you need.
This module is a plugin.  But it only works on this theme, that’s why I call it module.  Well, maybe you can use it for other theme too, but I only can support your problems for this theme.

These is the basic module that I plan to have.

  • Featured Articles Static – Will use wordpress 2.7 sticky post function.  Or you want it by tags or category?  No problem too.
  • Featured Article Slider – Now, there’s a lot of slider out there. No hassle. I will choose what look nice in my eyes. It will be named according to the script and the slider’s author.
  • Featured Video(s) – It is proven that video marketing is a powerful method to bring traffics to your site.  A blog/website nowaday MUST HAVE featured video.  You want the embed url and wathc url too for your visitors like in youtube?  No problems, I’m thinking the same idea.  ;-)
  • Highlights – Want to highlight article from several categories at once? I think this will solve your problem.

Anything else?

Just contact me with your wishlist, but don’t demand or try to “direct” me to do this or that.
This is free theme, hence I have the right to do anyhow I want.
Anytime I want to do it, no dateline.
I’m happy, you happy, all happy.
